What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

I Got Invited to the Party!

Guess what? Guess what?  Guess what?

I have hit the big time!  I've been featured on House of Hawthornes today for my vintage Halloween decorations.  Here's the thing though - the list includes Laurie @ Magpie Ethel and some of the other BIG NAMES in vintage Holiday decorating.  I can't believe that I am included with the other vintage collecting bloggers.   I kind of feel like the ugly half sister that got invited because the Dad said I had to be included.  :)  But, I am honored to be a part of it!

Check it out here.

If you don't already read House of Hawthornes - well, what is wrong with you?  Pam has great style, lots of cool vintage junk (that's a good thing) and a witty sense of humor that I just love.  You will too!

Thanks for inviting me to the party, Pam.  I'll try not to spill my drink on the tablecloth or peek in you medicine cabinet while I use the bathroom.

  2. You are so funny! You are NOT the ugly half-sister and I am not your Dad (because that would just be a little weird). I'd better clean out my medicine cabinet though . . .

  9. I forgot to stop by and tell you how excited I was for you! Of course, you're one of the Blog Biggies, as far as I'm concerned, so it's not that surprising!
