What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Nobody Doesn't Like......

The Breadman is employed and will remain the Breadman once again.

Twelve days unemployed - not too bad in this economy.

One hurdle down......

Now, to get my Mumsie healed and going again.

*My name is Shara Lee and that is what everyone called my my entire childhood and what most family members still call me.  I used to get chased around the playground with that "Nobody doesn't like Saralee but nobody likes Sharalee!" taunt.  They liked me, but it was too much temptation for a group of kids.

Also, he will be delivering:

Bimbo cake products.  I do not have a history with that nickname.

I don't think......

(Keepin' it real over here or I'd go nuts.)

Thanks!

  4. When you emailed me about Curtis' job with Sara Lee, I didn't even think about your name! And the Bimbo company always says that it's pronounced "beeembo" but nobody actually calls it that. :)

  7. Good news about the job! I see the Bimbo trucks delivering around here. You MUST get a company t-shirt.

Still praying for you and your Mom. It's a good thing she has you there to be her advocate. Please try to take good care of yourself along the way...

  8. I bought Bimbo bread earlier this week. One more thread in our common denominators. You saw I posted that jingle on FB, and that was before I read your blog. Our ESP is working just fine.

  10. I have never heard of Bimbo before but I am laughing right now. Little story for you, my son's dad got caught messing around on me when Alex was about a year old. I even knew the girl, yeah, he wasn't very bright. ;) But anyway, to this day, 18 years later we still refer to her at the Bimbo. Let me know if I can get an empty box, just to have for my own evil enjoyment. ;) I know, get over it already, but somethings still make a person laugh, eventually. ;)

  11. Great news! I've never heard of Bimbo. For Sara Lee, I always thought the jingle was, "Nobody does it like Sara Lee." You can adapt that one for you. ;-) Congrats to Curtis!

  14. There's a Bimbo bakery in the town where I work and I laugh every time I see them advertise. I CHEER every time you have good news, which is not nearly enough these days, but this is an excellent start. And I'm so glad we don't have to go through that whole learning a new nickname thing. Hope your mom is continuing to improve....
