What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Egg-citing Find!

I popped in to fluff my booth on Monday just as a new booth was being set up.  I snuck a peek when they went to the car for another load and spied these GIANT Paper eggs.

*Note my foot for size.  Yes, I have Crocs.  No, I don't leave my yard in them.

I picked them up and held my breath to see the price - 'cause you just never know.  Could be cheap could be high.  The magic price $2.00 each.

They are big and take up a lot of room, but I <3 them!

*Next up:  I spent $74.00 at Goodwill.

I know!

  1. $2 ??? Wow, what a deal! I would have grabbed some also. In your previous post, I noticed that you found quite a few children's books. I am looking for a Little Black Sambo book. Probably will never find because it is politically incorrect!

  2. Well, get typing! Don't keep us waiting on this GW trip!!!!

  3. I would have bought them also. Are they made in Germany? Tell us more

  4. Oh wow those are so cool! Love me some BIG Easter eggs!
