What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Valentine Heart to Heart Swap

For the past few years I have been lucky enough to be included in Sarah's Heart to Heart Swap.  I've stopped participating in all swaps, but I can't seem to give up the Heart to Heart Swap.  Fifteen people make fifteen "Valentine's", ship them off to Sarah and then she shuffles them around and sends us back a box full of everyone else's Valentine's.  I consider myself blessed to have a lot of different little pieces of art from fellow bloggers and artists.

My contribution this year started out as a heart shaped cardboard box - painted pink and then coated with a healthy sparkle of glitter.
I added a strip of vintage pink velvet ribbon and a pink carnation.
Wrapped it up in cellophane to complete the idea of a box of chocolates.
I hope everyone will open it - just don't try to eat the candy!

I can't wait so see all the other fun Heart 2 Heart items I get in return!

Do you do any swaps anymore????

  1. I am not swapping as much as I once was...seems to be on the deline. there was one swap I wanted to participate in, but was told no international swappers. I would love to do some dolly swaps tho...just love them! Your little box is adorable!

  2. your valentine box is sweet. No I hav never done a swap and right now I can't seem to get out of my own way.

  3. That's really cute. I did a couple of swaps (including Sarah's!) when I first started blogging but haven't for years. I don't know if they aren't as common or if I just don't follow the blogs where there are swaps.

I love my comments. I'd love to respond to everyone, but if you don't have an email address tied to your ID, please sign your name so I will know who you are! It makes it nice to know who is saying what. Now, leave a comment! Please? ;o)
