What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Oh the Weather Outside....

...is hot today with STORMS coming on Thursday.  Storms with high winds, hail and maybe tornadoes.  That, my friends, is SET UP day for the Junk Ranch.  Oh woe is me, what will we DO?  Set up early, secure the tent and hope everything doesn't blow to Timbuktu or wait it out until Friday morning?  If I do everything on Friday morning, I am going to need to be there early.  Like early, early 6:00 am?  Or sooner.  Oh God.  It takes me two loads in the car to get there.  I am close so there isn't much driving involved, but the loading and unloading, setting up the tent, making my displays, unloading the merchandise, fighting the other vendors for parking spots on the grounds (not actual fighting - just trying to get in there) and tweaking my displays is time consuming.

The GOOD news is that after the storms, there is a COLD front coming and the temperatures are going to be in the mid 60's all weekend.  That is PERFECT junkin' weather!   Also perfect weather to get people in the mindset for Fall and Christmas shopping.  It should be a great weekend!

If we can just get it set up.

*Fingers crossed!*
