What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

One More Thrifty FInd

Friday at the thrift, nestled under a pile O'Christmas crap, I spotted a small blue cardboard box marked $1.00.  I peeked inside, because...well, you just have to look everywhere.  You never know what you might find, right?
Inside this box was a set of Children's Italian Alphabet Flashcards.
They are on printed on chipboard and have the most adorable graphics.   Here are a few of my favorites.
 Bunnies.
Cherries.
Skier.

 Sweet Birdie.
And my favorite favorite - a Gnome.

It just goes to prove - you need to look everywhere when you are thrifting!

What a nice find - they are adorable! Yes, I too believe you have to look everywhere and I must always go counterclockwise around a store. Don't know why - it just feels right! Lynn S
