What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

A Lot Left, A Little Came Back

Today I mailed two packages from ebay sales, donated two boxes of Christmas items to the thrift store, sold two boxes of books to the Used Bookstore, took two boxes of items to the Flea Market, boxed up two boxes of things at the flea market and took them immediately to a different thrift store.  That's a good amount of things out of the house and a little bit of money in  my pocket.

So, I deserved a little something for all my hard work, didn't I?
Vintage pink ornaments in the box.
$1.00.

*Pat*Pat*Pat*

(That's me patting myself on the back).

Good job, Shara.

  3. Oh, I just love those old ornaments! So simple, yet lovely. I always wonder about all the folks who hung them on trees over the years. If only the ornaments could talk... (but then, that would be pretty creepy so never mind). Well done on a great Christmas find!
