What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Junk Car

When we were in Branson, I spotted this car sitting by the road. It was positively covered in junk. Everything for marbles to casino chips to collector's plates to toys to - well, you think of it, it is probably on there. We drove past it many times, but it was on our way out of town that I had to stop and take some photos. I mean, really, a car covered in Junk!

What do you see?

Shara Sees Seashells.

Java anyone?

The Bean was distraught to spy several original Transformers and Teenage Mutant Turtles adhered to the car.

The whole enchilada. There probably is an actual enchiliada on here somewhere.....

Does anyone have a pen? Or a button? Or a spoon?

7-Come 11!

Finally! A use for all those collector's plates I see at every sale.....

Did anyone get the license plate from that thing?
Wow. Look at the junk!

Hardware Store gone wild.

Leapiin' Lizards!

Head on over to Heidi's to see photos of a Junk house that she found last week!

  1. Several years ago in San Francisco I saw a car covered in doll parts, which was creepy. There's a VW in New Orleans completely covered with Mardi Gras beads (duh) that's cool. The car you saw is truly the junkiest car in the world!

  2. There are called Art Cars. There are quite a few people that have them. Some have themes, some are just covered in whatever - like the one you found. I personally don't understand the appeal, but art car people probably think I'm crazy because I like Fenton!

  3. Hah, that's funny. I just read Heidi's blog and now yours! I suppose it's better than putting this stuff in a landfill somewhere???
