What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Heartless

Both the menfolk are sick at my house.

The Breadman has either allergies or a cold.
Or it might just be a bad case of MAN FLU.

Ain't it the truth?

FORGIVE ME FOR THE LANGUAGE BUT IT IS JUST TOO FUNNY.

Knocks him out for three days.......I could handle that.

The Bean has a headache and I do have sympathy for that.  Headaches hurt.

Colds suck too, I know that.

I'm not completely heartless.

Well, maybe just a little.

Somebody get me outta this house!

  1. My daughter, Otter, had a cold. She missed one day of work, but worked 2 or 3 days sick. She dealt with it as well as she could. She also shared it with me. I've worked off & on this week, and I've dealt with it. My husband has been absolutely, totally, 100% forbidden from getting sick because he would be just exactly like all the stuff you mentioned! I think it's just a guy thing, but still. They are all just babies at heart! Sharra, please take care of yourself. They might not be able to survive if you get sick!

  2. As a BC survivor, I think that cartoon is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I would change the bottom caption from "Man with Flu" to "Man with Sniffles", though.... :)

    1. Oh goodness Pat - I am so happy that you are a survivor! And, I wondered about that cartoon - I h oped it wouldn't offend anyone. But, I KNOW it's true. Women do it ALL no matter what! Bless you!

  3. HA! In the post-op info Justin brought home after his gall bladder surgery, it said not to lift anything over 10 lbs for 6 weeks -- which would include the children. I thought for sure he was going to follow that to the letter but he only went two weeks without lifting them. :-) Ah, men.

That is such a hoot! Between my children and hubby, I used to say, "When do I get to be sick?" I am a former BC patient too. Hubby had minor surgery and you would have thought he was on death's door!

  6. Looks like I spoke too soon! Hubby seems to be coming down with the cold. But he insists it is "just allergy" however he is the most unallergic person on the face of the earth. Sigh.
