What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

(What did you do today?)

  1. Some of the same thing you did went to work some then some of the same things and came home. I did not throw pipe cleaners at my cat but I did scare off a bear.
    all in a days work.

  2. I like the list idea. If I break it down that way even my non productive days will sound most productive! I'd say you left out a line. Exercised. Surely all that lifting, packing and toting counts as exercise! Surely??!!!

  3. I thought I got a lot done, but after looking at your list, not so much. In particular, I did not throw pipe cleaners at the cat ... one more thing to do today!

  4. Shara half way through your list I was exhausted and taking a nap! I do need to try the pipe cleaners on cat ears though! I love Survivor and I've not watched the other show but will check it out. How is today shaping up? hugs, Linda

  5. When you said you were going to blog about your cats, I didn't think that was what you had in mind! She looks like "Why did Mommy do this to me??"

I may steal this idea for a post somtetime.

  6. with being married to the breadman, you should "bread your cat". just google it to see the latest cat plus bread trend.
