What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Time Out

The Breadman asked me if I intended to "drag in all that Christmas Crap" this year.
Let's just give him a minute to think that little comment over, alrighty?

  1. The breadman should come stay with us this season no decorations! he would come running back I promise.

  2. Ha ha! Too Funny! Did he get "the look" as well?

  3. Maybe he should have some sticks & cinders in his stocking this year! And maybe he should have to forfeit football games on TV? OR he could do penance by wrapping gifts or washing up after ALL the Holiday baking...

  4. Is he ever going to be released from time out?

  5. he's lucky all he got was 'time-out'!! (...and that is probably all that he will be getting - tee, hee!!)

  6. ha! This gave me such a silly laugh today. Thanks for the giggle :)

  7. too funny!

that's like my son-in-law asking if they had to get pink stuff for the baby. After having 2 boys, yes there WILL be pink!

  8. LOL oh my I am a newbie here from Ohio enjoying my morning coffee and was blogging over at Prim N Stuff and found you just wait till he is older it only gets better!!!
