What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

My Ebay Sales

The Breadman was a bit overwhelmed when I brought home two carloads last weekend from that awesome sale.  He never questions my junk.  But, sometimes, he just looks at it and I know he is thinking, "What the ....?"

So far from the two carloads - I have sold only a handful of items:

  • Factory Sticker Chocolate Stickers:              $9.38
  • Trend Stinky Stickers Rope & Space:         $20.56
  • Trend Stinky Stickers Crab & Phone          $17.00
  • Trend Stinky Stickers Corn & Old Shoe     $14.48
  • Mastercraft Car Clock                                $31.11
  • HRM Red Plastic Cookie Cuter                    $5.00

Total after one week and only six listings:                $97.53

New old stock car clock - the headlights light up and the motor makes a running sound.  It sat all week without a single bid.  With minutes left, it got a bid of $10.99.  With TWO SECONDS left, it jumped to $31.11.  I love snipers.  (When I am selling, not buying.....)

Not bad!  Now I can rest easy knowing that I've already paid for two carloads plus I have money in my pocket.  It's not a fortune.  But, it feels good to think I might actually know a thing or two about "junk"!

**I'll be back with my weekend finds.  One of my Top Ten Wishlist Items can be successfully checked off.  And, the best part, it didn't cost a DIME.  It was a sweet, sweet gift.  More later....
