What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Day #1 of the Barn Sale is DONE!

One more to go, then pack it all up and drag it back home.  Her's my booth as it was at 11:00 this morning.  I changed it up a bit later in the day and I have some more things to take out tomorrow.  You can't sell it if it is in your garage!

There's Lara back there - see her?  It has been SO nice to have a friend beside me.  Oh, sure we have only actually met face to face for like five minutes before, but we are a lot a like and I had a good time being with her.
I sold quite a few pieces of my jewelry which THRILLED me.
I'm all Sally Field over here, "You like me, you really like me!"

Really need to sell that giant chalkboard!

I'll be back with the whole story on Sunday. I'll try to get some pictures of the other booths so - I think there are about 50 set up.  It has taken every fiber of my being not to shop.  :)  I did do a trade for a couple of old boxes of chalk from the booth on the other side of mine.  Might have to find a little somethin-somethin tomorrow.  :)  'Cause, you know, I need more junk.

Also, don't forget to sign up for m giveaway in the previous post.  I shopped for the winner BEFORE we opened today - so you won't be getting leftovers, I promise.

Also, The Duggars Sale will be on Tuesday night, so I can finally blog about it!  I'll watch it and see if we made it into the show.  I kind of hope we didn't!

I have to get up at 5:00.  Like 5:00 AM.  I am SO not a morning person!  g'Nite!

  1. The booth looks great. The kind I like to shop! Wondered if you know that the turquoise and paisley case in your first photo is an Avon bag. My mom was an Avon lady for over 25 years and I remember her carrying that bag. Can't wait to hear the whole story about the sale!
