What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Dear Mister Winter

My Mom hates Winter.

My Dad hates Winter.

My Husband LOATHES Winter.

So, don't tell them.

But, I could really use a good dose of COLD air and some wet snow.

The Bean and I LOVE Winter.  Cold air - GOOD!  Snow - GOOD!

Nothing to make it dangerous.

Just a little Winter before Spring comes and then my dreaded Summer.

Is that really so much to ask?  It was 70 degrees yesterday and I wore Capri's and a T-Shirt.

My Winter Coat hasn't been out of the closet this year.

It's pink and I'd like to wear it a few days.

So, if you are sick of Winter - send a bit to me, please?

Thank you!

  4. Come to Michigan! We'll share our winter!! We just got 4 inches of fluffy fresh snow, and we have a great sledding hill right by our house!

  5. I'm with you. I like winter, mostly since growing up in South Texas meant that we almost never actually got winter. But we haven't had it the last couple of years, the last real snow we had was two years ago Feb. 1st when we had a major blizzard and were housebound for days. I think I've worn my coat once this year!
