I stayed home today. I think I am shopped out for awhile.
I did sell that set of lockers that I wrote about a few months ago. I made a deal with a lady, but her husband had a truck full of gravel and couldn't come get the lockers. She called yesterday and picked them up today. I had bought them at a yard sale for $1.00 in October. They were double decker big heavy steel lockers from a school gym. The guys at the yard sale where I bought them delivered and unloaded them - so I never even touched them. I thought they would be great in my son's room for storage, but they were so heavy they scared me. We know a family that lost their 5 year old son when he climbed on the shelf of a bookshelf and the whole thing fell on him and crushed him to death. So, that sort of thing scares me. They have been beside the garage waiting for her. Anyway, she picked them up tonight. I had told her $25.00 - but I let her have them for $20.00 tonight. She is going to put them in a community house at a cooperative learning center of some sort. So, they will go to good use. And I am glad they are gone.
What is a monkeybox?
When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.
