I hit a thrift yesterday and a couple yard sales this morning. The sales are plentiful this weekend, but the temperatures are going to get hot. 95 degrees! Too hot for me. Anyone that has read this blog for more than five minutes knows that I am no fan of summer. As much as I love yard sales, once the temperature hits a certain spot, I am done for the season. Come on Fall!
My finds: A nice big vintage Easter basket for 50¢. I seriously have no where to display these, but I have found a lot of them recently. I have my original Easter Basket from my childhood, so every time I see one similar, I have to grab it. I'm sure I will figure out a spot for them by next Easter.
A few fun finds from a "permanent" sale that I rarely frequent. They have it in a big warehouse every Thursday-Saturday in the summer. I usually go about twice a year just to see what's new. They put big prices on furniture and clothes, but let the random things (like I like) go pretty cheap. I got the Kangaroo Valet, vintage bobblehead Santa, two cool old tins and something for The Bean for a total of $1.50. The kangaroo sells for about $30.00. **Those are boxing gloves on the kangaroo. Not boobs. Looks like boobs. Not boobs.**
Yesterday I picked up these three horribly stained vintage napkins for $1.00. The backsides weren't stained, but the fronts were awful. But, I soaked them all night in Oxi-Clean and they are about 98% stain free. Love me some Oxi-Clean.
A nice tole painted silent butler for $2.00. Destined for ebay. I swear! 
An assortment of old crocheted potholders, destined for swaps and the like. Two, count 'em two, watermelon potholders. 75¢ for everything shown. *A note about the watermelon potholders. I don't collect them. I rescue them. If I see one, I have to rescue it and give it a good home. All those poor little Grandma's sitting around crocheting watermelon potholders for their family. Their family is all, "Gee, thanks Grandma" and then they donate them. So, I rescue them. I don't actively look for them. They find me! I have received some in the mail from TX, NY, CA and other points across the USA via this old blog and my friends in blogland. But, most of them have found me at thrifts and yard sales. They all live in a big basket (shaped like a watermelon, of course) in my kitchen.

ReplyDeleteI was sure they were boobs! Are you sure they're not kangaroo boobs? I passed up a beautiful old quilt this morning, for $10, because it had 2 big yellow stains on it. So I could've used Oxy Clean on it? Darn. I wasn't sure if I wanted it for myself or I wanted to sell it on Ebay. Darn. I gotta go back...

FUN finds!... and point well taken - will only ship watermelon hot pads to you that are in need of rescue!! Hey, somebody has to do it!! I'm kinda that way with plants - if it still has some green on it, it has a chance!!
