I just paid off our car. Made the very last $400.00 payment. I know that is supposed to be a happy day. No more payments. No more obligations. More money for other things. Yea! But, now I have this sense of doom that it is going to fall apart now that it is all ours. I see springs shooting out from under the hood, the tires rolling off one by one, door handles stop working, yadda, yadda.
Oh my. Ours is still pretty much like new. Only 35,000 miles on it - outside and inside still like the day we bought it. So, deep down, I know it will be okay. But, I just can't get this image out of my head!
Hey Shara! Happy Saturday...congrats on paying off the car! Feel good!!! The car will NOT fall apart like in a cartoon...my husband & I paid off his truck a year ago, and mine 2 years ago...what an awesome feeling getting the titles in the mail! Happy dance all around!! Of course, they're still mechanical beasts and they will have problems...case in point, I got a nice surprise check last month, and while I was at the bank...honest, cashing the check...gremlins got into my transmission, and when I came out feeling rich, I had NO reverse!! Arrgghh!!! What could've been worse? Not having the $$$ to fix it that week and being w/o my 4 wheeled friend for longer than 2 1/2 days. Have a great weekend!!! *elaine*
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome feeling to have it paid off. YOur graphics were cracking me up:)
ReplyDeleteYAY!! Congrats on paying it off! I cannot wait until mine is paid off!
ReplyDeleteYea for paying it off! mine is paid off, and if i had treated it as well as you seem to have treated yours, it would probably not be as realistically scary for me. my car has been great- it has over 160,000 miles on it!
ReplyDeleteYea you!!!
The last car I paid off was seven years ago, a Toyota Corolla. And guess what, except for tires and a battery, and a broken door handle or two...I still drive the happy little car every day with no bills. I felt the same way the day I paid her off, "oh no, what will happen now..." the answer is "nothing". Just enjoy the feeling. Then in a year or two think to yourself, "hmm, look at all the money I have saved on car payments, and the car is still great!". Enjoy!
