What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

What's Up?

I have been to two Christmas Parades.

Watched the Lights of the Ozarks turn on.

Favorite parade "float" - a tow truck on a tow truck on a tow truck.

Loved the old vintage tow truck on the very top.

Put out 14 Rubbermaid tubs of Christmas decorations inside and outside.

Blow molds take up a lot of space.

Santas are in the bookcase, but not organized yet.  Just about the time I get a good mojo going, The Breadman sits in that chair and I can't get anything done.  That's when I sweetly suggest that he go take a nap.  "Don't the doorknob hit ya where the good lord split ya."
:D

I'm not done yet.  Still need to put up the tree and put my BIG vintage Santas out.

Ice and snow coming on Thursday then again on Friday and some more on Sunday.  We are going shopping for baking supplies and going to hunker down with some Christmas movies and enjoy our house.

I'll be back with some more holiday decor as the days quickly pass.  Can you believe we only have 23 days?????

  2. I spy a couple of naked Santa's, what's up with that? Weather men teased up last week with freezing precip and talk about it this weekend again. I will believe it when I see it.

  8. You never fail to amaze me with your neat stuff. I love the mason jar idea. I had one with fabric scraps in it but I think I'll put some of my little miniature stuff (I have it scattered all over now) in one, much more fun to look at!
