What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

From Me to You

Merry Christmas!

I know everyone is busy with their holiday, but I wanted to pop in and wish you a very Merry Christmas from me to you.  I appreciate all of you - to the ones that comment on every post to the ones that read and never comment to the ones that email me and send me Happy Mail to the ones of you I have never met and to those that I have - I just appreciate you all SO MUCH!  I love junking and blogging about it.  My life is really quite ordinary, but when I come write a post about something silly I found that makes me happy or something we've done lately and people read it and respond and are SO NICE about it, well, that just makes my heart swell.  Some of the nicest people I will ever have to pleasure to meet - well, I'll never even meet most of you.  But, you are my friends.  To you and your family - have a blessed day and a safe day.

Love,
Shara, The Breadman and The Bean
