What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

May 3rd, 2013 - SNOW DAY

It's the THIRD day of May.

It is 36 degrees.

It SNOWED last night.

It hasn't done that since they started keeping weather records in 1900.

Today, I had to wear a long sleeve shirt.

And a hoodie.

And a jacket today.

We had turn turn on the HEAT.

And use the seat heaters in the car.

And, I had to pull out my ugly furry hot pink knee high slippers that I haven't even needed to use all WINTER.

But, here's the kicker!

I kind liked it all.  :)

Tomorrow is the FOURTH of May and it's supposed to SNOW and SLEET!

It's crazy!

It's great!

(Summer will be here soon enough, so I'm enjoying this record breaking history making event).

  1. Great attitude, you have participated in a moment of weather history. The temps are in the high 30's in my area but I refuse to turn theheat on.
