What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

I'm Baaaaaack!

Hello ladies,

I'm home from the Dentist.  I had two teeth pulled, a cleaning and a pedicure.  I am feeling very fancy.  I am also feeling a bit woozy and not overly stable on my feet.  I had to be in ICU and treated like a baby.  I got to lay on baby blanket on a heating pad.  I even had a neighbor!  He didn't look like me.  He said "BARK!" at me.  I don't have any idea what he was, but we were neighbors and got along just fine.  He didn't even mind that I had drooled on my self just a teeny bit.  He was doing the exact same thing!

Mama let me get in one of her picnic baskets to rest.  It is one of my very favorite places to be.  I feel all cozy in here.  I am very hungry too.  But the lady at the Vet told me that I can't have anything to eat or drink until tomorrow.  I don't know if I can make it that long.  I am hungry and thirsty.  I would me mad at that lady, but she called me Sweetie and rubbed my head and told me that I was a BIG BOY!  That's what my Mama calls me.  Speaking of my Mama, do you know what she gave me when I cried for food?  She took a little clear cold thing out of the freezer and put it on a plate for me.  What am I supposed to do with that thing?  I want some beef or chicken or turkey or cheese or something yummy.  That little square cold thing isn't going to fill up my flubby tum-tum.

Thank you for all your nice wishes and worries about me.  I will be fine tomorrow.....after I sleep it of and get some delicious yummy stuff in my bowl again.  Mmmmmm...I can almost taste it now.  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Love,
Tiger

  3. I'm so glad you're feeling okay Tiger. Some people would pay a fortune to get that woozy feeling! I'm sure after a good nights sleep you'll feel fine and be able to do justice to a dish of your favourite food.

  8. Hey Shara...I have the twin son of a different mother lounging around my porch as we speak...wowza! what a big putty-tat!! I have never taken a cat to the dentist...but when FattButt had his...ahem...removal...he was so loopy when he got home that he walked into furniture, walls etc. I ended up sitting with him on the couch for several hours until he was able to walk straight and that was AFTER spending the night @ the CPS. That musta been some heavy duty anesthesia!! Tell Tiger that FB sends his best wishes for a speedy recovery, and wants to know how to ask his "momma" for a picnic basket! :O} Have a great week *elaine*
