What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

In the Works

I'm working on a Junk Ranch post if anyone has come here looking for the rundown.  And, if you have, in fact come here for that, you need to get a hobby!  I KID!  I'm running behind, the house is still a big old mess, I'm trying to get my head above water before my next show November 3-4th.  WHEW!

It's coming!  PS We bought a CAR too.

  3. Yep - I keep refreshing . . .

In the mean time I have to tell you about the Most Organized Person (MOP) who donated to the local thrift. They donated about six tubs of Halloween. The thrift must have taken the contents out and were selling the tubs (they were the orange and black tubs). I was excited to see all the new Halloween knick knacks that obviously came from those tubs.

As I picked each decorative knick knack up, I noticed there were small stickers (probably printed with a P-touch) on the the underside with numbers like #1, #2, #3, #4, etc. Then I noticed that the tubs had big stickers on them - #1, #2, #3, #4. So MOP packed all their Halloween in those tubs and numbered each and every thing that went in each tub. Wow. How organized! And all the cute things were in excellent shape and clean.

There wasn't any vintage but I did manage to snag a Halloween feather tree and the wee ornaments that went on it among other little Halloween treasures that I didn't need. Like the stained glass pumpkin votive holder, Halloween lights, spider web candle holders and pumpkin mugs with vine handles. They looked so much like the Starbucks mugs I sold a few years ago.

Anyhoo, can't wait to hear all about the junk ranch and see all the pictures you took. Nopressurebuthurryupcuzwecan'twait - gah!

    1. That's almost too organized! What if MOP buys something new? Where does it go? It does make me sad that it all went to the thrift store, so she must be gone. RIP MOP.

      Post is coming......I promise! :)
