Today Was That Day.
It isn't the typical thrift store that I blog about.
It is.......are you ready?
The Little Debbie Thrift Store.
I KNOW!
(The Little Debbie Plant is not far from me, so that is why we have an Outlet Store.)
Oh, it is a train wreck waiting to happen. That's why I only go once a year.
The entire store, front to back, side to side is nothing but Little Debbie's. This aisle is the Granola Bar and cereal aisle, which looks like it could be a sort of healthy type store. But, you would be so, so wrong.
Look to other way and BAM - SUGAR OVERLOAD.
Most boxes are $1.00 each, many are 75¢ each.
There are closer dated items that are even 4/$1.00.
This wall is full of boxes of the BIG snacks you buy at the convenience store. The ones that are $1.00 each. Well, here you can get a box of TWELVE for $1.50. But do you really need twelve giant double Decker Oatmeal Creme Pies?
Yes.
Yes you do.
;)
Most everything is close in date, but usually has almost a month left on it. When we get home, we divide it up - some to go to different family members, some for the freezer, some to keep out to eat. By putting them in the freezer, they are safe from late night snacks. Or are they??? Have you ever tried a frozen Swiss Cake Roll? Mmmmmmm. That's the only way I even like to eat them now.
My very favorite thing to buy there is the bulk ingredients that are used to make many of the treats. We love the coconut based Granola that is used in some of the Granola Bars. You can get a three pound bag of the Granola for $4.00. Today we also bought a two pound bag of mini peanut butter and chocolate chips for $3.00 to put in the freezer for baking.
*Don't worry, most of this has already been shared or frozen away with the exception of the Granola Bars and Struesel Cakes. This stash will last us a year. until our next visit.
Like we need to bake now that we have been to the Little Debbie Store..... Today's buys - the Harvest Spice Granola Bars are divine. Also, the new Peanut Butter Creme Pie is possibly the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life. Like ever. I wish my ex-Hostess now SaraLee deliver man would have gotten a Little Debbie route.
So, before you think I am a total gluten.
Before I went on a cake run, I went to the Farmer's Market and got all this delicious HEALTHY stuff. Grapes!
Apples!
Green Beans!
Peppers in SEVEN colors!
Zuchinni!
Cucumbers!
Tomatoes!
Grape Tomatoes!
Healthy!
Healthy!
Healthy!
A Peanut Butter Creme Pie is calling me......can you hear it?
How amazing would it be for me to have that thrift store since I have an onslaught of teenage boys in my house on a daily basis? Okay, maybe not. I would have to work out twice a day to make up for that. But don't think I won't be heading out to find some of those peanut butter cream pies today :-)

I think you were misunderstood those peanut butter cream pies....they are calling MY name. I will be finding some of those very shortly.....Good haul...I wish we had one of those near us...or maybe I don't. If we did I probably couldn't get out the door to get there ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say that I was the type of person who would happily pick a 'treat' from photo #2....but I'd be a GIANT LIAR! Photo #1 all the way!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband would probably say that yes, you do need giant double Decker Oatmeal Creme Pies. We don't have a Little Debbie store in our area, or at least I don't think we do. We had several Hostess outlets and I used to make regular trips to them, most of which would wind up I the deep freeze but hubby couldn't be told or it would magically vanish!
ReplyDeleteI am awed by your ability to only visit here once a year! Oh my, Little Debbie is one of my guilty pleasures! YUM!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad we don't have one of these stores. LOL! My 2 little grandkids would want to go everyday!

ReplyDeleteI shall have to try a Peanut Butter Creme pie. We've got a booth in our flea market that sells Little Debbie salvage stuff. Sometimes they're hard to avoid, but right now it's pretty easy, since they don't have any Nutty Bars, Chocolate Pies, or Star Crunch Cakes. Of course, that could be because I have bought them all.
ReplyDeleteWow - did not even know Little Debbie had outlet stores. I think you should go more than once a year so we can live vicariously through you. The Oatmeal Creme pies are like crack so I can't even buy them anymore because I know I will eat way too many at once.
ReplyDeleteFrozen Swiss Cake...no. Frozen Ding Dong..yes! Subtle differences but I do prefer the Ding Dongs. Like most things, I can't eat 'em like I used to, unless I want a belly ache!
