I saw on Pinterest a wreath made out of a bundt pan. It was just the bundt pan with a ribbon attached for hanging. It stuck in my head as an idea, but with my own twist. I rarely ever make anything exactly like the things I "pin". I mostly use it as a springboard to make something more like the things I like. I like using my "junk" to make stuff.
So, I had these old Jell-O molds kicking around forever. I decided they would make most excellent Christmas Wreaths.
I took this copper wreath and added some vintage plastic greenery and a red glittery bell. Then I took small glass ornaments and put them inside a giant vintage light reflector to make a flower of sorts. I really like this one even though the colors aren't my usual colors. It will go to the booth this week.
This great old aluminum wreath had a nice patina to it. I added vintage silver foil leaves, silver pipe cleaner twists (wrapped around a pencil to make a spring), a silver slight reflector with a red Shiny Brite mini ornament in the center and some red bells to make it POP. I really like the red and silver combination. This one will stay with me.
Of course, now that I made these two, I want to make MORE. But, all the Jell-O molds I find lately are priced $4-5 each which is crazy! I know I have only paid a little bit for each of the ones I bought in the past. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more molds in the future.
What do you think?
I think these look great, Shara! The jello molds are cool.
ReplyDeleteI like. Makes me wish I had picked up those jello molds I saw at the thrift last week!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I find the little Jell-o molds all the time, but I don't think that's the size you're looking for. Hope some turn up for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! One more thing you've enlightened me to that I've never seen before!
ReplyDeleteNow they will probably start showing up everywhere like the watermelon hot pads-LOL!
That's certainly a unique way to use those molds. I bet that they will sell fast at the booth. Maybe an etsy item as well?

ReplyDeleteI think these are the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Love them!

This is a great idea! I have a ton of individual molds and wonder if I could make something Christmasy with them.
