What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Weekend Find

Thanks right - find.  I only found one thing this weekend.  Friday, I only found a few sales - one I drove right by once I saw that their HUGE sale could fit in the back of my car (and I wouldn't even want any of it), another that I left empty handed and the one sale I did stop at that looked promising from the road.  I saw pottery and linens and old looking stuff, but it was all chippy and dirty and not good at all.  I did spot this sweet little set of vintage doll cribs, but they weren't priced.
I have no use for them.  I have no babies.  No baby dolls.  They are too big to sell on ebay, I think.
But, they are just so dadgum cute!

When I inquired about them, the lady told me that they were $1.00.

Well, I had to buy them then, didn't I?

I have them sitting in the living room so I can wipe them down and clean them up.  I have them stacked up on top of each other, but everytime I look at them, they are knocked whompy-jawed.  I haven't found the culprit yet, but I highly suspect it is this big galoot.

He thinks he is a baby, so why shouldn't he get in a crib?

Did you find anything this weekend?

I know a kindergarten classroom where they would be right at home! Let me know if you are thinking about selling them!

  4. I think they would make a great display for your booth. You could do a vignette with vintage baby items. :)

OMG my daughter had these cribs when she was little. I bought them at a garage sale in the Bay Area. They were pink. She loved them. I had forgotten about them until I saw yours. I wonder where they went! Yours are darling.
