What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

On My Mind

Due to the huge number of very negative comment that I have receive in the past, I rarely ever mention The Du*gg*ars. (If you are new to my blog - I have known Michelle since 7th Grade.) But, I need to mention them tonight. Their latest baby girl was born last night - three months early and only weighing 1 lb. 6 oz. Michelle suffered from Gallstones and was airlifted to the hospital last weekend after the Gallstones began contractions. She also had Preeclampsia which could have been deadly for her, so the doctors performed an emergency C Section. A lot of people are using this to say terrible horrible things about this family. This family of which I know are good, good people. A family that gives and give to everyone they know. I come from a family that had a very premature baby born - I know it is a long hard road. Our sweet baby didn't make it. But, technology has come a long way and everyone sounds optomistic. But that is one very small baby that needs one very big miracle. Baby Josie needs our thoughts and prayers.

  3. My thoughts and prayers are with them and the baby.

I think it is a sin for anyone to say anything mean about a baby fighting for it's life. How dare those people.

What is wrong with them? No matter what they think of a person no one should speak mean things about a baby and/or a mother going through this.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  8. I have never had anything but good thoughts about the D family--I think children are a blessing and they recognize that! Obviously I only know what I've seen on TV, but from what I've seen Michelle seems like one of the sweetest, nicest people you'd ever hope to meet.

I'm sorry to hear about her baby girl. :( I do believe miracles can happen--and modern medicine is a part of those miracles, sometimes. Sending my good thoughts her way.

  13. Thanks for your post. The family will be in my prayers with extras going to the baby. Does she know how lucky she is to have a friend like you? And, yes, I know, you are lucky to have her, too!

  14. I am not surprised that there are bad comments about them, some people are just very small-minded and a lot of other bad things I can't say! The family is in my thoughts, each baby is precious to God and I will pray for them.

  15. I have been thinking a lot of the family over the last couple of days. My preemie daughter was born at 29 weeks (at a whopping 3 lb 7 oz - big for that early!), and was in Arkansas Children's Hospital for 45 days (I'm wondering if little Josie will be transfered there - they are awesome!). I know they have a long road ahead of them and wish them the best.
