I wasn't going to go to any yard sales today. I've kind of lost my junking mojo lately. I have plenty of goodies and I really don't need any more. But, the slim possibility of finding a sweet vintage tablecloth or maybe a few old Shiny Brites, makes me get the bug and I have to go looking.
I only went to three sales and only bought things at two. The sale with all the clothes and new NASCAR collectibles (with the DO NOT TOUCH MERCHANDISE sign) actually netted three of the four vintage items of the day. The second sale had a lot of neat older things, but had even neater prices. Yikes.
An old glass Cracker Barrel jar for 50¢. It had faint gold lines all over it that were supposed to make it look like a barrel, but I scrubbed them off. I like it better now that it is more clean looking. I won't keep crackers in in, but it might make a fine canister for my beloved Vanilla Tootsie Rolls (that I stumbled onto earlier this week - I hadn't seen any since Halloween).

A humongous pink floral-y doiley for 50¢. It isn't perfect, but I use the pieces in some of my collages and dolls.
This sweet little vintage horsey was $1.00. I was surprised it was still there at noon today. But, as we know, I see things as treasures that most people don't.
And, lastly from today, nice vintage crocheted apron. I have a green one very much like this one, so Sadly, I think I might have a new collection. Craaaaaap.
And, a thrift find from Wednesday. A sweet vintage sewing basket with legs for only $4.00. I've never seen one like this - it's sweet. When I paid, the lady checking me out about had a heart attack over it. I could never work at a thrift and see all the things I missed going out the door. 
I am not a fabric person, but I do love this pink rosey fabric lining. The Breadman assumed it would go by my end of the couch for crafting. But, I plan on selling it, if I can get the legs to unscrew for easier shipping. I haven't tried yet. If not, to my end of the couch it shall go. The Super Cheap Thrift is having a Tent Sale on Tuesday. Everything will be a quarter. I'm not sure if it will be all clothes or a bit of everything. I've never known them to have a Tent Sale. I could get in trouble if they drag all the inventory from the back out and sell it for a quarter each. Lord help me.

ReplyDeleteIt must be part of the addiction... I'm starting to feel 'saling burn-out' too - but the thought of missing out on 'good stuff' keeps me going 8-)!!
ReplyDeleteI go out to sales on Fri, and the past 3 or 4 wks have been total crapola. I bought two ball jars last week and NOTHING this week. The thrifts have been pretty lean too. I have scored on dvd's at the thrift b/c they quit pricing them and the sign states "movies not priced are $1". I think that is for VHS, but the ladies have been selling them to me for $1. Think I have about 25 now. Some are being donated to the library that I don't deem worth keeping.

That sewing basket is darling! Your reaction is so funny, to possibly having started ANOTHER collection! I felt the exact same way when I got my vintage pink radio in the mail. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, I said the same thing, only I used the other word meaning craaaaap!

ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm tempted to make a road trip to your thrift store just for the Tuesday tent sale! You find the neatest, coolest things there! And, I agree, I don't think I could work at a thrift store because I'd be mad that I missed so much 'good stuff' - even if I was working that day! Ha, ha!
