Lily Pads

Last weekend we drove out to our local man made lake. It's a pretty good size lake, but you can only access it by boat. There is a boat ramp with a fishing pier and then a back dirt road where the partiers go to hang out. But, there is only about fifty feet of "beach" area there. it's completely a body of water to be accessed from a boat. When we parked, I couldn't believe my eyes. Look at the lily pads!
Tons of beautiful lily pads with gorgeous yellow flowers all around the edge of the lake. And, I do mean all the way around.
They extend about thirty feet out from the shore completely around the entire lake. This photo was as close as I could actually get to the lily pads. If you click on this one, you can see the lily pads on the other side of the lake in the very back.
See? They just go on forever. I've never seen anything lie it before - it is amazing!
Lily pads - as far as the eye can see.
I realize that a lot of these photos look alike, but I just couldn't get enough of all those lily pads!

This Fall we plan on going back to see how many of those pods we can scrounge up for our Nature Basket. Actually we plan on going back this weekend to chekc on the lily pads again.
Nature. Dontcha just love it?

  3. I think big snakes live under lily pad fields. And gators. Yeah, a net with a r-e-a-l-l-y long pole would definitely be a good idea! ;o]

Lily pad flowers are protected here. Really big fines if you pick any of the flowers. I know because about 15 years ago we were let off with a warning! Great pics by the way!
