We're headed out to a Haunted Battlefield Tour, bonfire and hayride this evening. Would any of you believe that this is the first time I have left my house after dark in nearly a year?????? (That I can remember - it could be two years, actually). That's not so hard to believe in the summer months when it stays light until 9:00 pm, but now that it is dark by 6:30, that's another story. I've never liked going out after dark and I have issues with night vision and driving. I can do it, I just prefer not to do it. Some may think it a sheltered life, but to me, it's just my life. I remember when The Bean was about four years old, we drove past the Wal-Mart parking lot and he said, "What are all these people doing out in the middle of the night?" It was 6:30! We were on the way to pick up a pizza for dinner. So, the Bean is sheltered too!
What is a monkeybox?
When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

I don't like driving at night either, or being out by myself either for that matter!! :) Sorry it took me so long to get back to you about the molds. As fate would have it, I stopped in at my local thrift a few days after seeing your molds and found a rose one exactly like yours for only $0.80!! I was so excited!! Thanks for offering a trade! The only tablecloth that I have for sale now is the X-Mas one with the bells (its a few posts down). I would still be interested in a trade if that was one of the tablecloths you liked!!

Isn't that funny how we get used to doing things in a certain way, it becomes the only thing we know and are comfortable to us. Funny comment by The Bean!
ReplyDeleteHeh, you guys sound just like us. Jack didnt even know what it was like to be outside after dark until this year, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI admire you for being so on top of your blog. I love to read your stories and know that there will always be one there. I have just posted a new post for the first time this month...and the month is almost over. I can't get a chance to do it unless I am up before 6am since that is when the kids come down "hungry". Today I was lucky, my mom is here to cater to their every need.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think we are twins separated at birth! I hate to drive at night, but it's not usually an issue since I fall asleep by about 8 pm.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever am out after dark. I guess that's what happens to us as we get older! Not that we are actually old, of course. My car just doesn't like to drive after dark.
