What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Here are the photos of part of the flea market booth. I couldn't get any good photos of the window part due to the sun streaming in and the giant tractor trailers whizzing by at 55 mph. I took some more things in this afternoon too.

It looks so interesting. I was checking out all of the stuff like I could come. Have you found anything you like in other people's booths? That would be my problem, I would find too many things to buy!

  3. Thanks Jen & Libby! I hope I sell stuff too! Libby - I haven't found anything to buy yet. People are still settingup lots of booths though. I just know I will find a priceless Marie pot for 50¢ or an AA book for a quarter. Well, I can dream, right?

Can I ask where (what city) you have this in. I just came through your area on Wed 1/4/06 and stopped at a place called Gradma's Attic in Rogers but I don't think that is the place you described. Anyhow, I would love to live in your area (my dh drives one of those big rigs whizzing by, but he stops for me when he can) and meet up with you sometime. Kim

  5. Hi Kim, I'm just outside of Fayetteville. I have heard of Grandma's Attic but never been there. I think it's more of an upscale Flea Market, isn't it? I don't like the junky ones, but I can't afford the high priced ones either!
Where are you located? Where you in the truck with your hubby when you passed through? If you are ever in the area again, drop me a post!bytjuxb
