What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Purex Plus Oxi Review + Surprise!

This morning my doorbell rang and it was the FEdEx man.  Woot!  Love the FedEx man - he nearly always brings a surprise that I didn't know was coming.  Today he brought me a bottle of new PUREX Plus Oxi laundry detergent compliments of Purex Insiders.

I have honestly used Purex Detergent my entire laundry doing life.  So, I knew that this would be good laundry soap from the get-go.  And, as a junker and collector of vintage linens, I use Oxi all the time to get stubborn stains out of my tablecloths.  So, Purex with Oxi - COunt me in!

I decided my first load would be a big load of the Breadman's uniforms.  I hate to tell you that the guys that deliver your freshly baked pristine loaves of bread are grubby.  Really grubby.  Big dirty racks of dirty trays with that freshly baked bread on it that they wheel in and out of the stores and onto their trucks.  By the time The Breadman gets home, he is a dirty wreck.  It's even worse in the summer when you add in sweat and, well, you can imagine.  :O

So, I threw all his nasties in the laundry and added in the Purex Plus Oxi Laundry Soap, said a little, prayer, closed the lid and hoped for the best.   When the cycle was complete, I pulled it all out to have a look at it.  His grubbies were no longer grubby.  The white Wonder Bread insignia on his shirt was actually WHITE again!  It has been a dingy beige color.  His shirts looked nice and his pants looked nice once again.  Now I can send him out into the world looking slightly less disheveled.  His appearance is a reflection upon me, I think.

Like I said, I've always used Purex laundry detergent, or laundry soap as we call it around here, and I always will.  But, I will mostly likely make a point to pick up the new Purex Plus Oxi in the future.

Purex is having a sweepstakes and YOU could win!  There will be one (1) Prize. The Prize winner will receive $1,000 in the form of a check or gift card and a (1) year supply of Purex plus Oxi detergent in the form of 10 “Free Coupons” valued at up to $6.00 per coupon.  Enter here  until 11/16 for your chance!

Also, there is a sweepstakes from Purex and Whirlpool.  You could win a 4.3 cu. ft. Whirlpool Duet® Steam Front Load Washer with Precision Dispense Ultra, a 7.4 cu. ft. Good luck on all three contests.  I would LOVE it if one you wonderful people would win!

  5. Would love to try this...we have been using a vintage linen soak that we bought from a dealer in Canton. It worked wonders but we have had so many dirty linens this past sale that we are completely out and cannot find information on how to make or order more!
