What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

WINNER

Congratulations to HEIDI ANN of Gold Country Girls!  She won my big old box of junk.  Well, not junk - GOOD STUFF, I swear.  Shoot me an email at monkeybox at juno dot com with your address and I will finish up gathering up goodies to add to it.

Thanks to all that entered!

  1. Shara! I am SO sorry I didn't see this until just now. I was out of town last week ( visiting my sister for her birthday - YOUR birthday) and did not have my computer - and then when I came home, I went right back to work, and haven't had any time to do anything! I am really excited to have won, and I will e-mail you! I really am so sorry not to have noticed this earlier!
