What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Today is Easter. Or is it?

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter.  Easter has been postponed for a week at my house.  My Dad went into the hospital on Tuesday to start a new medicine and be observed.  He was supposed to go home the next day, then then next and then the next.  He finally got home about 7:00 Saturday night.  It's about 90 miles round trip to and from the hospital and his house, so I have been on the go all week.  I had no time to even think about Easter.  I know The Bean is 16, but he isn't too old for ME to still make him an Easter Basket.  I feel like a real heel for blowing it off a week, but what can you do?  So, next Sunday when I am baking a turkey and telling you "Happy Easter!" don't think I have completely lost it, okay?  Thanks in advance and you guys have a perfectly lovely Easter!
The only Easter preparations I did make was to set up this photo shot with our tin knight out in the yard.  My Uncle HATES this thing and wanted to shoot it and run over it with a steamroller, but we took it home from my Grandmother's house instead.  So, I made him a card featuring the "tin man" (as we call him) surrounded by Easter goodies.  I think I have started a new tradition!  Bring on the Uncle Sam hat, the Witch costume, the Santa Suit and the Birthday decorations!

Happy Pseudo Easter to you!
