What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Stop What You Are Doing

Get in your car.

Drive to a store that sells food - Walgreen's, Wal-Mart, 7-11, Albertson's, wherever.

Go in.

Buy a big ass bag of these:

Go home and eat them.

There, your life is now complete.

You're welcome!

Ok...I live in the land of coconuts, Hawaii. This summer I noticed an EMPTY display case for the small bags. I kept looking and looking and that case was never refilled with coconut m and m's. I gave up hope, but you bet that tomorrow I'll be going to Safeway or Long's and looking for my big bag of coconut m and m's. Surfergirlie

  6. My nephew's wife, who hates nearly all food, LOVE these things. As for me, I've hated coconut candy ever since I was a little kid and someone slipped me a Mounds bar, assuring me that I (fat little chocolate-devouring me)would love it. YUCK! SPIT! ACK! So g'wan and enjoy those limited editions M&M's--I'll stick with the plain and peanut varieties! More for y'all!!!
