What is a monkeybox?

When I was a little girl, we had a pet monkey named Amanda. My Dad worked in the produce business, so each night he brought home that days culls in a big box - spotty cucumbers, pithy apples, limp celery, moldy oranges and the like. We called it a monkeybox. It was really just trash, but my Mom would take each piece of fruit and trim it, pare it and cut it up to make a beautiful fruit platter for Amanda. Even though it was deemed trash by one, it still had life left in it and was good for the purpose we needed it. That's how I live my life - thrifting, yard saling, looking for another's trash to be my treasure.

Out of Control

I'm finished decorating. Finally! Woohoo! We got the tree up and decorated today. That's my least favorite task and my least favorite item. I think it's my lest favorite becuase I do it last and by the time I get to it, I am exhauted and tired of all things Christmas. Not tired of them, just ready to be DONE. And, I am. Woohoo! Yesterday we finished up the outside and it was a good thing we did. Today turned up horrific winds, cold temperatures and a call for thundershowers tonight and snow tomorrow.
I knew I was getting borderline crazy with my decorating on Saturday. I was looking at my little pink glittered house with the bottle brush trees and the glittered garage out back when I realized it was mising something. A car!
What good is a garage without a car? I raided The Bean's Hot Wheel collection and put a car there. But, it just didn't look right. Hmmm. What to do, what to do...... I know!

Glitter! Sparkly blue glitter!

Ah, much better. Please, don't tell The Bean that I glittered one of his Hot Wheels. That is just between you and me and the glitter jar.

No one at our house looks forward to the Christmas tree more than our little girl kitty. Little Lady. Oh, how she loves the tree. She will sleep under it from now until I take it down after New Year's.

When she isn't asleep, she just curls up under it and gazes up at the lights. I swear, she swoons. We think it is just the sweetest thing ever.

The cat basket is sitting under the tree too. Our big tubbo cat, Tiger has taken over the basket now that Little Lady is under the tree 24/7.

And, here is Pity. My Mom said I never put Pity on my blog. Pity is a loner. She stays in the back of the house most of the day. She comes out in the venings and sleeps on the arm of the couch.

  2. Okay, I'm not finished decorating either. LOL I've been at it since LAST Monday, don't know why it's taking so long! Wait, yes I do--I'm making a bunch of new things this year so it's taking forever. Fun work, though! I have to be done by Thursday because my folks are coming and I want it to be all pretty for them. Deadlines are a good thing.

I can't believe you glittered a car. Hang on--YES I CAN!! :D You crack me up.

The car made me laugh out loud! (and it's pretty darn cute, too.) Your kitty pictures are great - I've got one of those nocturnal loner kitties, too. Barbara

  5. Too funny about the car!

The kitties are cute. Pumpkin pretty much lives under the tree these days. Too bad we have a train that I try to keep put together! Needless to say, it's in pieces behind the tree.
