Oh, The weather Outside Is.....

.....a freaking nightmare.  Crazy sleet, snow and COLD.  It's only December 6th and I am freaking out.  We just don't have this sort of cold, cold weather this early. Tonight it is going to be a NEGATIVE 2. Negative!

Tuesday we went to Sonic for a Peppermint Shake dressed like this:
Here The Bean wonders if he looks like he has one leg.  Yes, yes he does.  We learned something at Sonic that day.  On the rare occasion we go there for a drink (we don't really drink soda much), we order a large because that is a bigger than a small, but not one of those HUGE route 44 monstrosities. So, I ordered Large Shakes and you know what?  Those suckers were freaking HUGE.  And expensive!  $9.50 for two shakes????  They were way too big for anyone to consume.  The good part was that it lasted us three days and that is a good thing.

So, Wednesday we went to the grocery store and fought our way through the aisles for bread (can you believe I have to BUY bread?), milk, potatoes and chocolate chips.  (Yes, you DO too need chocolate chips).  I dreaded going because it was packed and I knew parking would be a bear.  But, I ended up in the first spot by the door.  I dreaded going in and fighting my way through the aisles, but everyone was smiling and in a good mood.  I was struggling to reach something up high and a nice tall lady stepped in to help me.  I dreaded checking out because it was so busyk, but as soon as I walked up a CSM came and took my cart to an empty register and I was done.  Isn't that weird?

Thursday the sleet started.  Slowly at first, then harder.  Anytime I have ever witnessed sleet, it has only lasted a little while.  But, it sleeted all day long.  We ended up with about three inches of sleet.  Then it started snowing.  Hard and lots of it.  The Breadman went out this morning and cleaned off the truck and started it up to warm up.  But, when he tried to close the door, the mechanism was frozen and it wouldn't shut.  He drove up the street slamming his door and I wondered how that would work out for him.  A few minutes later he came back.  So, then he took the "good" car, the Escape, which he rarely ever drives.  He was scraping the windows and I'm all helpful yelling in the crack of the door - "DON'T SCRAPE  - USE THE DEFROSTER!"  and "USE THE SEAT HEATERS!'" and "LET IT WARM UP A LONG TIME!"  I'm so very helpful.  But, he usually just gets in the truck, starts it and leaves.  He never lets it warm up or get the heat going.  He's so impatient.   At 1:30 am.  Since the roads were so treacherous, I asked him to please drive safely and slowly and please ring the phone once when he got there so I would know he was safe.  (He has to drive about 15 miles on the interstate to get to work). I knew it would take longer than normal, so I watched the news waiting for him to call.  TWO HOURS LATER AND HE STILL HADN'T CALLED.  So, I start calling him.  Voice Mail.  Voice Mail.  Voice Mail.  Text.  Text.  Text.  Voice Mail.  Voice Mail. Nothing.  I can only assume he is dead at that point.  There is no other option.  I am upset.  I am starting to cry.  He is dead.  Then, on the sixth call, he answers.  "Oh, crap, I forgot to call you", he says.   Suddenly I forget my sadness thinking he is dead and I WANT TO KILL HIM. I was awake from 4-6:30 for all this and I tired beyond tired at this point.  He best not "forget" tomorrow, if you get my drift.

Obligatory snow picture.  It's deep  - about a foot with all the ice, sleet and snow piled up.  I filled up the bird feeder - that blue pan on the table, but you can see how piled up it is.  I want to get out and take some photos, but it is so cold and the snow is so deep.  When it comes up to your knees, it is hard to maneuver.  Maybe tomorrow.

While I have been inside, I have done very important things.

I finished up the decorations.  Put up my Walmart store - what?  You don't have a Wal-Mart?  Shame on you!  Threw some bottle brush trees in the S&C truck - Shara & Curtis - it works for us.

Every year we get The Bean a Christmas ornament that has something to do with the past year.  We haven't found one yet, so I decided to SURPRISE him with a Miley Wrecking Ball ornament.  Now, The Bean is pretty quiet and reserved, but he did a great big belly laugh when he spotted it on the tree.  Every time I see it it makes me laugh.  I meant it as a joke but I have a feeling it will stay.  I just wonder if we will remember what in the hell it meant when we find it in the bin next year!

I'll be back with photos of the real non-Miley decor and maybe another fun story about what the Breadman did this time.  Oh, no he din't!

(I think I am a little punch drunk.)

(Tired, I mean.  I have had no punch).

G'Nite!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

  6. That same weather hit us yesterday. On the one hand, it meant I didn't have class. On the other, it means ice and snow and I am so not ready for this, So not ready. Much distress.

  8. Oh, that Breadman story is just awful. I feel so bad for you that you worried for that long. I am so glad that he is okay. I could not possibly imagine having to drive that night -- he is a brave man!
