Berry Sick

Earlier this week, The Bean mentioned his throat was hurting. By this morning, it hadn't lessened, so I decided to take him to the Medi Clinic. It is usually a bit more expensive, but you don't need an appointment and it is close to the house. We got there today at 12:30 and were on our merry way at 1:15. That is fast for any doctor, not to mention, no appointment. And, today it was only $62.00, so that was actually less than his normal doctor. *This sign was on the wall in the doctor's office. "Please do not use our gloves as balloons." (Taken with my cellphone and emailed to my email. I am incredibly proud that I figured out how to do both of those things! So, I will no let the fact that I cannot seem to turn it the right direction bother me.)

He has a Sinus Infection and enough of an infection in his throat that it could have lead to Strep, so I am glad I took him in today instead of trying to wait it out. It's a shame that you have to worry about the financial aspect before you worry about the health of your kid. His cough medicine cost $48.00 AFTER a $20.00 coupon and after my prescription discount. Good Lord!

On the way to the doctor, I stopped at two yard Sales very very fast. Zoom. The first one only netted a handful of Christmas cupcake toppers for 25¢, including a little elf that I really wanted.

At the second sale I found this handful of carved wooden strawberries for 25¢. When I picked them up, I thought I might glitter them, but now that I look at them, I see they are pretty great the way they are now.

Also at the second sale, The Bean spotted a Mario Slot Car Racetrack set for $2.00. Feeling sorry that he was sick and guilty for making him stop at yard sales on the way to the doctor, I picked it up for him. When I went to pay, the lady tallying up the purchases looked at her Mother and said, "You didn't tell me that you were selling that!" The Mother replied, that Yes she was selling it and it was $2.00. "But, the boys love it - its their favorite thing to do at your house!" Mom barked back, well, they haven't played with it in a while, so they must have forgotten it. "I would have taken in to my house", the daughter said. Meanwhile, I am standing there holding the stupid racetrack with two dollars in my hand feeling completely awkward while they argued back and forth. Finally, I told her she could keep the track if she wanted it. "No, they don't need it anyway," she said. She finally took the $2.00 and I left. So, here's the real kicker to the whole story - we can't get it to work! Ack! I should have left the darn thing there.

Oh, well, you win some, you lose some. Strawberries - Winner. Racetrack - Loser.
