Five Flowers

There was a tragedy in my area this week. A fire. A terrifying, horrifying house fire. Five little girls died. Kristan, 13; Kimberly, 11; Katelyn, 9; Kaila, 8; and Kiya, 5 all died in the fire. They found them asleep like they never knew what happened, which is the only good thing in this entire tagedy. They didn't know what was happening. They weren't scared or wondering when help would arrive. They just slept. The firemen said it was a "Fireman's Nightmare." One death is bad enough, but five deaths and for them all to be childen is just unthinkable.
Sometimes it takes something big to you realize that it could be worse. So much worse.

Remember these girls tonight.

Thank you.

  1. Oh my goodness, that's beyond heartbreaking. Those poor, poor parents. Sometimes I will admit that I didn't have the responsibility of being a mom--not that I don't love Maren, just sometimes I wish for freedom as I'm changing a poopy diaper for the 20th time that day. But then I think about this situation, and how if I ever lost her, I don't know how I could even continue on. My prayers for those sweet girls and their dear parents. :(

  2. My uncle was a fireman and my best friends brother is a fireman. It is something that NEVER leaves them when they were not able to save a child.

There is a memorial in front of my ds's school from a young man that was killed in a house fire several yrs ago. I remember him from a p.e. class I taught in and he was the one the coaches always expected to do great things.

It is tragic and sad and my thoughts will be with this family.
