Persistance

On June 20th, I stopped by the Salvation Army.  I spotted a nice old honeycomb Uncle Sam hat sitting on a shelf in the vestibule.  I inquired about the price and was told it was NFS.  NOT FOR SALE.  Boooooo. Actually she said it was, "Not for sale.  Yet.  But it will be eventually."  So, I snapped a photo of it, slapped it on Instagram and everyone felt my pain for the NFS story.

July 2nd, Lara mentions to me that the Uncle Sam hat is still at the Salvation army.  I decided to go the next day since it is almost the 4th and they will surely want it GONE at that point.  But, I also know how they are about "antiques" and "vintage" so I still might not be able to swing it even if they DO say it is finally FOR SALE.

I go and there it is, exactly where it sat on June 20th.  I pick it up, fold it flat and take it to the register to ask for a price.  The man takes it to the back and returns to say, "It's a dollar.  We need to get rid of it since it's the 4th."  UH, YEAH YOU DO!

And that is what you call persistence when it comes to buying junk.

Or maybe it is just a mental condition.

Who knows?

Who cares!

I tip my hat to you!

  6. It's only a mental condition if you lose sleep over it. Which I have been known to do.

  7. Yay! I love a story with a happy ending! And if it is a mental condition, I am not entirely sure that I want to be sane... :)

  8. Great score! When that happens I like to pretend it "waited" for me - hehe!
