I Went to The Salvation Army.....

...and all I got was this lousy rabbit.

Now, don't get me wrong - he's vintage and he's kind of wonderful. Not to  mention he was only 50¢.  But, in the whole thrift store, this was the only thing worth buying.  And what's worse, I went to another thrift store and left EMPTY HANDED and then went to ANOTHER one and left empty handed again.  WHERE HAS ALL THE JUNK GONE?

Heck, The Bean had a better run at junk than I did!

He got the complete set of Harry Potter Books (there's one under one of these for a total of  seven books) from the UK.  The first one was called "Philosopher's Stone".  The last four are all first editions too, which is pretty cool.  Inside a few, the original owner wrote things like, "Purchased with Louis on 3-15-2001 in Paris."  He's quite proud of his new addition to his book collection.  He paid $19.95 for the complete set, which in normal thrift store book prices is a lot, but for what this was - I'd say that is a heck of a deal!

I don't know who it was or why the did it - but this was one purchase from one person at the flea market today.  That is a lot of tickets!  I'm sad to say that none of them are from my booth (BOO HISS!), but MAN, that is a lot of stuff!

Have you found any good junk?

  1. Wow, those books are cool. I didn't realize the UK versions looked different. And first editions, score! Sorry your thrifting day wasn't better, the bunny is cute though :) Somebody was on a shopping spree! Makes you wonder if they are buying to resell?

  2. Way to go Bean! I have seen those same books from time to time but never knew that they were the UK edition. I love that he collects books!

I have been finding some good junk but I've been having to work a little harder at it. Plus, I've had to travel outside of my normal area to find it.

  3. No!!! NOTHING at the thrifts and if there are a few things they are in the glass cases with ridiculous prices. I'm moving on to estate sales right now until yard sale season kicks into high gear. I do like that bunny though. Very cute!

  4. I do think there is a junk cycle. and we are between spring cleaning and winter. At least that is my theory and I am sticking to it:0

  5. Not much. I stopped by the GW the other day and nothing worth buying and not at the prices they had on them either! Yikes.

  6. I like Cathy's theory. We have all had such a miserable winter, I think when Spring really comes to stay there will be yardsales with good junk everywhere. I did buy a box of vintage birthday candles with a cute little bird graphic and thought of you Shara. And got a Weiss Christmas stocking pin, and a "Mother" souvenir pin - all of this at one estate sale.

  8. That rabbit is terrifyingly adorable! And you're right, the thrifts both suck and blow at the same time right now. Over it!

  9. That is one creepy rabbit! I haven't found much lately, I did find two blouses at a thrift today but that's about it. I'm hoping that it will be better soon, it's been a long draught!

  10. My Salvation Army has been really pitiful and empty lately. There's only one sad shelf of Easter items!
