The Barn Sale is Done! (Did you just hear thunder?)

Day Two started off busy at 8:00.  We stayed busy right up until, oh how I do not want to tell you all this...the skies opened up and it POURED rain.  I mean seriously poured.  Oh my god.  I had started moving things to up under my canopy in preparation of a sprinkle or two and had started boxing up some stuff.  BUT!  It rained like I had never seen it rain.  Everything was drenched.  I thought a lot got ruined, but I don't really think anything is actually ruined.  I went for my paper items first and then the jewelry and it is fine.  made one wet drippy load home in the car and came back for the rest in the second trip.

I begged The Breadman to give me fifteen minutes of his precious before Razorback Football time and he was kind enough to give me twenty minutes.  *cough*  He is not on my NICE LIST right now.  He took all the tables, crates, metal stuff and things that wouldn't get damaged in the rain home and threw them in the side yard until tomorrow.  He hates rain.  Hates being wet and hats being cold.  He was wet and cold when he got home, so he put his clothes in the dryer and then headed off to the game.  IN THE RAIN.  To watch football.  Wearing a TRASH BAG.  Because it is RAINING.  In the RAIN.

*cough*

Lara and her sweet husband, Justin, (who is apparently NOT a season football ticket holding rabid die hard Razorback fan because he helped Lara a load two vehicles and make two trips back and forth) and the nice lady Laurie on my other side, along with me and the Bean finished cleaning up our areas and we HELPED each other get out canopy's down and packed up.  We did all three in less time than it would have taken to do one.  I hate photos of myself, but I just hate it that we didn't take a photo of all of us - we looked like drowned rats.  (Can I tell you guys a secret?  I had to wring out my underwear to put them in the laundry. )  TMI?

Despite all that - I had a great day.  I had FUN.  I met a lot of great people and yes, I will do it again.

I'll have stories tomorrow and some photos.  Maybe.  I cannot find my camera.  I'm hoping it just got thrown into a random tub or bag and I didn't actually lose it.

Thanks for all you wonderful comments!  I feel so loved by all you guys.  Lara is SO impressed by all you wonderful people that read my blog.   Thanks!

I never did look around or do any shopping.  But, I came home with gifts from my booth bunkmates and the sweet gal that organized the whole Farm Fresh Market.  How's that for nice?  Photos of the goods next too.

  1. I'm a nice lady, it's true. ;) I said I had a camera phone and we STILL left without a picture! Dang it. Thanks for your help with my tent!! I was totally impersonating Jed Clampit driving that truck loaded with stuff home. Didn't lose anything, but it's still sitting in the driveway. Ugh. Hope to see you again soon!!

  2. Oh my heavens! You are so positive! To say you'd be ready to do it again after such a difficult day...that's more than I could say for myself! I hope you had a nice cup of warm tea after removing *all* your wet clothes!

  3. Phew! Glad it went well until the skies opened up. Nothing ruins a show quicker than a downpour! Can't wait to hear about it in detail. Get a good night's sleep..you deserve it!

  4. You just need to spend today sitting around in your pink fuzzy robe and slippers, drinking hot tea and listening to Justin Timberlake. You've earned a day of rest! Glad it went well for you and glad you are excited about it. Can't wait for the run down.

  6. I agree, sit back, put your feet up and take a deep breath today. I remember doing shows and getting home barely able to walk I was so tired. Somehow it hits you when you get home. The adrenalin shuts off and you just crash.
PS: I would rather be wet all over from rain than being so hot all day that ALL of your clothes are soaked all day long!! You get all puckered up in strange places:)

  7. Not rain!!! So sorry it cut the sale short, but your booth was looking pretty good in your last photos! Hope your sold well and got rid of the huge chalkboard :) At least you weren't wringing out your unmentionables for other less fun reasons.

  8. We had nearly 3" of rain mid-day in the Tulsa area. We had a little thunder. I thought of you, I was afraid you might be rained out.
