Leap Day

Today was Leap Day.  I've heard that you should do something different or take a leap of faith today.  I had grandiose plans for an adventure of some sort today, but ferocious storms moved through late last night and had me glues to the TV until nearly 3:00 am.  The weatherman said it would be wise to take cover, but there weren't any tornado warnings issued and the sirens weren't going off.  So, I watched it closely to see if the storm would intensify.  It moved through quickly, but the winds were crazy.  The storms eventually did pick up steam and hit Branson, Mo which is about an hour from here.  I hate storm season and I really hate the fact that it is already storm season on February 29th.  We should be having snow storms - not actual storms.  Boo!

So the Leap Day plans weren't so exciting.  We did eat at a new to us place today.  It was "Eh" at best.  Luckily, I had bought an online deal so we only paid half the bill.  But, it was still sorta pricey for what we got and the worst part - it was right next door to our beloved ChickfilA.  We could see what we were missing while we ate our so-so food.  Oh well.  It was something new to do.

Off to my old Flea Market Booth to straighten and *cross fingers* that the checks might be ready even though it wasn't technically the  1st.  They weren't - no surprise there.  The owner that figures up the tickets and writes the checks is sooooooooo slow.  Did I tell you that I gave my thirty days notice there?  I will be moving out March 26th and concentrating all me time and inventory on the new booth.  I also start working there on Tuesday.  Tomorrow I go learn the ropes and how to run a register.  I've never ran a register!  Ack!

Next stop - Shoe Carnival.  Oh. My. God.  I hate shoe stores.  I hate shoes.  And what is the only other thing in the whole store to look at besides shoes?  Purses!  I hate purses too!  Give me one comfortable pair of shoes and one sturdy purse and I am DONE.  For some reason, both the boys love to look at shoes.  The Bean tried on a two hundred dollar pair of polo motorcycle riding boots.  Uh, why?  I wish I knew!    But, he thought they were cool.  He did get new shoes, which he needed and I actually looked around and bought the ugliest pair of slippers that was ever made.  I swear.

I bought those hideous BRIGHT HOT PINK and GLARING ORANGE ones in the top left.  The top unfolds and they go halfway to my knees.  They are so ugly.  (But they are so freaking comfy!)  They were $26.00, but 60% off.  The Bean's shoes were on sale for $39.98 and I had a coupon for $10.00 off $49.98, so in the end, I only paid $1.28 for those ugly slippers.  I don't actually have to look at them when I wear them - other people do!  :)

So, how's that for a pathetic Leap Day?  I guess we did do a few new things and I did go out of my comfort zone and buy hideous shoes!  So, what did you do?

***(Thanks for all the comments on the Angel Story.  I'm glad it touched everyone the same way it touched me.  I heard from Charles again and he shared my blog with his co workers and they were all crying too.  I'm glad we are all sappy folks!

  1. We didn't do anything special yesterday - it was out turn to babysit 2 of our grandkids and since I can cook now I made their beloved chicken pot pie. It's not a Paula Dean recipe but it does include a little more than a half cup of butter between the crust and sauce!!

Those slippers rock! I'm with you on the comfort thing and I've had the same style of purse in different colors forever. Most purses are way too big for me, too. Who needs to spend $200 and get something that causes pain when you load it up?!

  2. So glad those storms missed you. It looked ugly in Branson. I did go out for a bit thrift shopping but bought only one paperback book...nothing interesting at all. Some days are just like that. And for those slippers...love them. If they are comfy who cares what they look like! hugs, Linda

  3. Thanks for popping over and visiting my blog. I appreciate you telling me about the wooden box that is in fact a strawberry box holder. I did not know that and was very happy to receive that information. ❤

  4. If the shoe fits... Wear it! They are not exactly meant to be a formal fashion statement, when it comes to house shoes the only thing that counts is comfort so don't worry about it!
I know what you mean about storm season, it's started early and I'm not happy about it. Last spring was a rough one, this year may be as well. Well, I guess I can't complain - I did know why my area of NE OK was called Tornado Alley before I moved here. But those storms were so bad, I'm heartbroken that anyone was killed but it could have been so much worse. Especially if the Branson area had been hit a day or two later, because their season would have already started.
