Missed It By Thismuch

Yesterday I noticed a yard sale that was located two miles from my house, started on Wednesday and started at 5:30 in the afternoon.  What a no brainer!

They had a list of unusual things and since it was super close and late in the day ( I am not an early morning yard saler) I decided to go.  The main reason I wanted to go and hopefully be first in line was this jewel in the rough:

This old Hoosier cabinet was listed in the ad for $25.00.  I honestly thought it was a mistake since these are usually priced much higher even though they are often in states of disrepair.

I got to the sale at 5:10 and there was already one person in the garage shopping around.  I didn't see the cabinet, so I asked the man running the sale about it.  He looked at me and asked if I was from a certain neighboring town.  I said no that I lived close by.  "Oh," he said.  "Someone already emailed to say they would be here and they wanted it."

*Sniff*

I really wanted that old cabinet!

I never, ever thought about emailing about it though.  Never!  Darn it!

He did take my number and he said if they didn't show up tonight, the cabinet was mine.

But, I know they came for it - who wouldn't?!?!?!!?

I know it had issues - but it would have been perfect on my front porch to hold all my gardening and outdoor junk.

So close!

Oh well.  I did buy one super cool thing there for $5.00, but I haven't taken a photo yet.  I have thrifted three things this week that I have yet to photograph - I will leave you with a tease until I show them.  Shells, tea and Popsicles.  Curious yet?

  3. Oh, just think what a PITA it would have been getting it home... all that flaking paint all over your vehicle to clean up afterwards... leftover spiders crawling around & making webbs inside your vehicle... then the WORK when you got it home... lugging it around, getting it cleaned to your satisfaction... leveled out... the grime... the scum... the critters you would have had to evict... - you DIDN't REALLY NEED that headache and hassle in all of the HEAT!!
There, does that help ease the ((pain)) just a 'tiny' bit?? No? Well, I tried!
    Next time!
