Oooowie, Oooowie, Oooowie

This poor guy has a toothache.  (Oddly enough, this photo was taken when he was perfectly fine, so you can imagine that it was difficult to tell when he was sad and hurting, since he is pretty much a big sack of skin full of organs that lays in his chair or on the bed 99.9% of the time).  He made an emergency trip to the Vet on Saturday morning for an Antibiotic shot and a prescription for Morphine.  You can only guess how completely sedentary he is and completely out of it with a round of morphine coursing through his veins.

We always knew he was a big cat, but we didn't fully understand how big he was until the Vet, who sees cats all day long, seven days a week said, "WOW!  That's one BIG cat!"  She weighed him and he came in at 17 pounds.  We always thought he weighed over 20, so that sounded small to us!  He is big and tall and does have a certain amount of flub on his tum-tum.

Tomorrow morning he has to go back to the Vet for the day to have two teeth removed.  It will be a nerve racking day.  I don't like animals (or people for that matter) being under anesthesia. But, I'm sure he will be fine and be back home running around the house in no time.  Or rather, lying in his chair comatose, yet pain free.

We love you, Mr. Tiger Big Boy!

*Please no horror stories about cats and Vets.  Thank you!

  5. It's a darn good thing I don't have a cat laying around like that all day... 'cause if I did, I WOULD be FORCED to join it!!
Just look how darn comfy he looks there... That confirms it. My next life, I'm coming back as a house cat! Find a sunny~comfy spot and lounge, people bring me food, 'meow' if there is an issue, and now this one even has it's people bringing it Drugs ... can it get much better??

  6. Hope Mr Tiger will soon be back to his normal happy self. It's awful when a dear, loved pet is in pain. Give him a little fuss for me please.

  8. He'll be pretty relaxed for a while because of the anesthetic, but he'll be fine and happy to be pain free. Although from your posts, he's a pretty relaxed boy already!

  9. I took my cats plenty of time to the vet for some dental work and it always went well. Don't worry your big kitty will feel fine in no time!

  11. Poor fella! My cats have had dental work, even a feral who had 6 teeth extracted. They came through it fine, and I'm sure your guy will too.

  12. Poor kitty! I'm sure he will be fine. I had a cat that was over 18lbs but she was a Maine Coon and they get really big.

We take our dogs to get their teeth clean four times a year now. But, even so, our dog had to have a few teeth removed. He did just fine. Never would know he had a thing done.
