You have GOT to be kidding

I found out the Jonas Brothers are going to be in Tulsa in June. I thought that would be a fun trip - take The Bean to see the Jonas Brothers. I like their music and I like the fact that they are upstanding role models to the young set. The fact that they are completely hot doesn't hurt, ya know.
When I saw him.....

I was fortunate to see a lot of big names in concert when I was a teenager like Bon Jovi (speaking of hot) for example. I still have my ticket stub (and Richie Sambora guitar pick I caught) and I paid the princely sum of $13.00 to see them. Apparently those were the proverbial "good ole days".

I'd like to see him now. Ha cha cha.

I headed on over to do a little price checking for tickets. Nosebleed, behind the stage so you can't see tickets start at $86.00. Tickets START at $86.00

Want a better seat?

Section: 108 Row: T
$355.00 (This is almost my car payment)

Not good enough?

Section: 102Row: M
$450.00

Section: 121 Row: S
$500.00 (This is our house payment)

Section: GA Row: FLOOR
$693.00

Section: 110 Row: P
$800.00 (This is health insurance, all out utilities, gasoline and groceries for the month.

Section: 110 Row: W
$1,141.00 (This is twice what we paid for an entire week in Las Vegas for two people)

ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY ONE DOLLARS for ONE ticket? Are you kidding me? Who can afford that? I'm not knocking the Jonas Brothers, if people will pay that to see them, get it while you can. But, honestly who can afford to pay $1100 bucks to send your KID to a concert? Heck, we can't really even swing the $86.00 (x3) tickets.

Guess we'll be going to the drive-in instead - all the folks you can cram in the car for $11.00. That's more like it.

  2. THAT is insane.

I went to see Bush & the Stone Temple Pilots in middle school, and they were nowhere NEAR those prices!

  3. I once saw Quiet Riot, Whitesnake and Helix at Reunion Arena in Dallas for $12.50! I looked at Bon Jovi tickets last year in Dallas...and front row tickets were about $1200.00. I like hime, but I liked him alot better when I only paid $15.00 for tickets!

  4. Oh my word.

However, this is why I couldnt see my beloved Jon when he was in KC. It was something like $125 for each ticket. Plus gas, plus lodging, plus a tee shirt...it would have been more than $500. Sigh.

  5. Tulsa has a reasonably new arena. The taxpayers are supposed to pay for it. I didn't vote for it, but I'm in the minority. One of the things was that "everybody" would be able to see top-line acts and that the tickets would be affordable. But none of the prices have been anywhere near what I consider to be affordable! It's not just the Jonas Brothers, it's pretty much the same story with every other act - the prices are simply through the roof. And the taxpayers are still having to pay for the thing with sales tax. And there is also almost no parking, so if you do go to anything there - plan on a long walk!

  6. OMG!!! Those prices are insane! I could see...NOT...paying a super high price for someone truly famous...like, maybe...I cannot think of a single person that would be worth 1000.00 plus tickets. Several years ago I did pay 100.00 and change each for 2 tickets to see Keith Urban, but we were on the floor, 3 rows from the stage and it was worth every penny...but I said I'd never do it again! I'm probably still paying for those tickets! LOL! PS Saw Bob Dylan in the 70's and only paid 12.00 a ticket! Boy, how times have changed!!! *elaine*

  8. Ticket prices nowadays are outrageous. Especially for the hot Disney acts. Miley and the Jonas Brothers are SO popular. My teen wouldn't be caught dead at one of those shows, though. He's his father's son, he likes metal bands. Last year we saw Linkin Park, this year it's Disturbed. At least we have 'sit down' seats for this one, for Linkin Park I had to stand the entire time. Not fun! But the Disturbed tickets ended up being about $50 apiece. I don't mind their music, though. If I hated them, no way would he (we) be going. He's still not old enough to go by himself. He does get 'other' culture, though-last year we saw My Fair Lady, the year before that it was Camelot, and we saw Hamlet. He just asked for Metallica tickets, I could do that concert, too, but I doubt they will be as reasonable as Disturbed.

  9. OMG! And I thought the $30 it cost me to see a concert so many years ago was a lot! They are cute and can sing but don't know if I would go. I did hear the disney 3D thing was really good but ran about $18 a ticket and that was a movie.

  10. That is so insane, not to mention the added cost of parking and maybe a drink. For sure you wouldn't be buying a t-shirt, what would that run ya - $56? Good grief! Maybe the news of the recession hasn't reached Tulsa.
