Valentine's Day Decorations

I decorated for Valentine's Day early this year. I hated the sight of my bare tree and I really missed the glitter and glitz of all the Christmas decorations. So, I drug out the Valentine stuff and put it all out. I suppose that was a good thing, because after everything we went through last week, I know I couldn't have gotten it done then. (I didn't turn my tree back on until everyone in my family had power back on. It felt like a waste of power....)

My tree adorned with lots of hearts, lights, X and O themed items, vintage Valentine's and lots of other Valentine'y goodness.
I made a lot of felt hearts and cupcakes to add to it this year. I have lots of cakes, cupcakes, candy, popsicle and other sweet treats on it.
I found all the ribbon candy, cakes, and red ornaments after Christmas the past few years, but on the Valentine tree, they don't look Christmas-y. I hope. (The Statue of Liberty stays on the tree for all seasons, no matter what. It plays the Star Spangled Banner and is how we start our day.)
Add in a lot of fun Valentine swap items from years past and I have a tree that is chock full of goodies. I have more en route - where will I put them all?????
Then there's the shelves that I cram full of all my holiday goodies. I've had that red flocked velvet thingamabob for many years, intending to sell it. It is a very old 25th Anniversary item, so I decided to incorporate it into the Valentine/love display.
Whoops. Another tree photo. (What is up with Blogger randomly loading photos into any weird order it so chooses?) Oh well, you can see one of my glittered houses nestled inside the branches.
A collage I made this year. I do so love those little girl photos that I found.
My Tom Thumb typewriter displayed with some fun goodies. Too bad I didn't notice the darn mini blind cord before I took the photo. Oh well. I have to move it or the dumb cat will hang himself looking out the window.

Back to the shelves. Top shelf - a random assortment of some vintage items, some handmade items and some fun items.
Middle shelf with a matte white cupid planter, vintage Valentine's and my beloved chocolate covered cherry boxes.

Bottom shelf with Sweetheart Conversation heart tin, my sweet vintage cherry painted number "14" and some other things strewn in for good measure.

Miscellaneous things on the stack of picnic baskets. Love that red glittered LOVE frame. I really should take out the puppy photo that came in it and put one of The Bean in it.

I love this Morningside Cherries box. I think I found it with some old sewing thread in it at a yard sale. I love finding a cool old box with things in it at a yard sale. I usually don't even like what is in the box. I just want that sweet vintage box. Chocolate covered cherry boxes are high on my "to look for" list this year. I do NOT like actual chocolate covered cherries though. They make me gag.
A Valentine Paperweight creation and my "bald head/pipe cleaner" doll *That's for you Sue.
My newly acquired vintage Valentine vase, a vintage hankie (thanks Tracy and Dorothy), a vintage Flinch card and the cherry painted 14 again. It makes me sad to think that I only have a week left to see my goodies. But, then again, that means I can whip out the glittered bunnies and vintage chicks. Oh, Easter is my very favorite holiday!

*Don't forget to leave a comment on my 600th post. Winner will be drawn tomorrow night. Winner, winner!

  1. You have me beat on collections.:) I love all your neat finds. The Valentine collection is so cool. I went thrifting today, came home with about 4 boxes of this and that. Now if I could just find someone to clean it and put it away.:)

  5. "bald head/pipe cleaner" doll - THANKS Shara!! Is that a lady bug in her hand? I do adore lady bugs, so that does make me smile!!
When I went up to our attic to bring down our box of V-day decorations, I realized there were only TWO things in it - can you believe that?!?! I guess I usually just put together VERA and HAEGER for my V-day decorating (and those don't get stored away, just rearranged!!). I think you have inspired me to quit my slacking, and get thrifting!!! (ha, ha!).

  6. Love that tree. Plus I love seeing our Valentines from last year. It makes all this running around like a chicken with my head cut off this week worth it!

Blogger and the photo thing is driving me insane. Do you know how hard it is to think in reverse when I upload photos?

  7. I haven't gotten my stuff out this year--just not in the mood, which is SO NOT like me but oh well. I'll just have to come look at your photos when I get the urge to see cute hearts and great vintage goodies! I love the cherry boxes but I'm with you--I think those things are disgusting!
