Some Recent Finds

I didn't want to leave that Stinky post up at the top any longer than I had to. Let's just say, Been there, done that - all cleaned up, taken to a dumpster and the freezer has been Freecycled. People will take anything!

On to better things - Thrifting! Yesterday The Bean and I ran to the Super Cheap Thrift (on the way to the library to take a virtual field trip inside an active volvano via the Internet). The thrift seems so gloomy since the Christmas items are all gone. I went to the bathroom while I was there and all the leftover and new donations of Christmas decorations were boxed up inside the bathroom. I wanted to dig SO BAD, but I was good.

On to the finds:


A pair of Georges Briard "Raspberries" Fine China cups for 35¢ each. I thought Briard only made glassware and barware. These are to be researched (no Raspberries on ebay right now) and then sold.

A set of four enamel drinking cups in a cool swirly green for 35¢ each. I love enamel stuff. Our everyday dishes are actually enamelware. I got them as a Wedding Shower gift some *cough* 18 years ago and they are still good as new. I've never had to worry about them getting broken or The Bean hurting them or gettiing hurt by them when he was little.

A Hallmark Happy Birthday plate for 75¢. It was new in the box and I considered selling it, but then I decided that it would be fun to eat your meals on the Official Happy Birthday plate when it is your birthday. I supose it is actually a cake plate though.

I also got a big shadow box (with a Hobby Lobby tag on it for $29.99) for $3.50. Kind of hard and boring to take a photo of a glass fronted box. I have a use for it and plan to do that tomorrow.

Our local library is very small. People are very generous to donate all their old books to the library. Since the library is pretty small, they can't shelve all the donated books so they always have several boxes of free books and several shelves of really good books for sale. Hardbacks are 50¢ and paperbacks/children's books are 25¢. We found about twelve really nice brand new hardback educational books for The Bean which is nice. I'd rather own books that we can pull out and use when we need them, rather than try to check them out or buy them at the drop of a hat.

Yesterday they had several old books, which they normally throw in the free bin (and I miss out on).

This old Peter Pan book from 1964 is so sweet with great graphics. I just have such a thing for great old colorful children's books.

I was happy to find all four of these Birds of America books at once. They were printed in the 1950's and have beautiful color drawings. There is the Red Book, Yellow Book, Green Book and Blue Book. They are pocket sized and just so sweet.
