We used to see his motorcade quite often. When Bill was elected, we went to his inauguration. And we got to watch the parade from our office. Fun!

I met George Bush (the first one) when he spoke at a conference that my friend from out of town was attending. It was a few block from my work, and one of her co-workers couldn't make it, so she gave me her name badge, and I went in (obviously pre-9/11!).

Last story, I took the Metro to work every morning very early and would read the paper on the way in. One day in the Washington Post, they announced that they were holding a 5-week class in an old, classy hotel called "The First Ladies." Each week a different first lady was to come to speak. As soon as I got to work I signed up. Well, it apparently was quite popular and filled up by mid-morning.

I met and heard lectures from Rosalynn Carter, Nancy Regan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Ladybird Johnson's daughters (Ladybird couldn't make it at the last minute). It was very cool and such a "DC" thing to do!Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06614890555110819353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15117059.post-8468979663245955622011-08-20T13:45:32.987-05:002011-08-20T13:45:32.987-05:00Wow, what a great post! My mom met Jimmy Carter when he was Prez and she said when he shook her hand he pressed his index finger into her palm and winked at her. I'm pretty sure she's the one who sent that killer rabbit after him later . . . I've never met a President but I met Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys which is waaaaaaay better!Vintage Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12442933020568560373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15117059.post-19415942191478768162011-08-20T12:34:35.769-05:002011-08-20T12:34:35.769-05:00Really enjoyed the tour through your blog - even f...Really enjoyed the tour through your blog - even for a Canadian.
